Isn’t it funny that the most rewarding job I have ever had is one that I don’t get paid to do? I’ve been webmaster for the Families In British India Society for about five years now and have enjoyed every single minute of it.
The FIBIS website has received recognition from the Federation of Family History Societies for three years in a row. I first entered the website into the Federation of Family History Societies Best Website competition in 2008 when it won ‘Best Site’ in the ‘Specialist Society’ category. Last year the website was awarded ‘Commended’ in the competition and this year it was awarded ‘First Place’ in the ‘Small Societies’ category.
I am very proud of the FIBIS website and put alot of work into keeping the website up and running and up-to-date, but always feel a bit cheeky receiving these awards as the data presented on the website has been contributed by many individuals and a small army of FIBIS Volunteers and without them making all this data so freely available the website wouldn’t be half as interesting or useful. So my thanks goes out to all of those hardworking volunteers!
